Background
Benjamin's engagements typically start with a control failure, and his diagnostic approach reflects that: rather than reviewing the control framework as documented, he traces who actually owned each control in practice at the point it failed. His consistent finding is that the control nobody clearly owns is the one that fails first — not because it was poorly designed, but because ownership ambiguity means nobody notices it degrading.
He has led risk governance reviews across payments and asset management clients, and is a contributing voice on the firm's approach to risk appetite statements, which he argues are frequently written to satisfy a board committee rather than to guide a decision.
